Writing loudly.

I recently discovered BIG-ASS MESSAGE, a site that very simply turns a few typed words into an unmissable visual statement. For me, the allure comes from its bold straightforwardness. There’s no corporate ads accompanying your message, no other links, not even the artist’s name in the corner. I find myself wondering if a project like this only resonates with overly-crowded visual cultures?

You can get a little more background on the big-ass trend at Cool Hunting. That article doesn’t specifically reference these two artists, but I also think you can get some serious insight on the roots of this kind of messaging from Jenny Holzer‘s ongoing project Truisms as well as from Barbara Kruger.

March 31’s daily design idea is be bold with your ideas. Write them loudly!
