The audacity of color.

As Wallpaper magazine says, “It takes a certain amount of chutzpah to pull off a truly colourful building.” This article celebrates a specific apartment building in Carabanchel, Madrid by the Spanish, color-loving architects Amann Canovas Maruri. Spanish culture certainly has a history of cultivating gorgeously colorful places, with the neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires being a perfect example:

Some countries in the southeastern part of Europe are getting into the color game as well. Ljubljana-based architecture firm OFIS recently designed the lovingly-named Tetris Apartments for the Slovenian Housing Fund. The somewhat polarizing mayor of Albania’s capital Tirana, Edi Rama, has been working since 2000 to bring color to a city covered in stereotypically Socialist gray.

April 7’s daily design idea is have some chutzpah! Use some color!
