Room for improvisation.

The new video game Sleep is Death, being released this month, is not nearly as dark or deadly as it sounds (at least for most people). Instead, the two-player game is an impressively flexible platform where Player 1 enters a world designed by Player 2, “almost like you’re blocking out scenery and costumes for a piece of improv theater,” says the game’s creator Jason Rohrer. After that, anything goes, but you have to make your move within 30 seconds. The players don’t know each other, so there’s no way to predict what will actually happen next. This seems like an exciting step away from the video game worlds that come designed with cheat codes.
